Although Apple has toyed with social media features in its music apps in the past, the company is trying again with a brand new social media sharing feature in iOS. There’s no exact name for the feature, but Apple describes it as a way to discover the music your friends are listening to by sharing playlists, artists and albums on your personal Apple Music profile. Once you create a playlist on Apple Music, you can share it via AirDrop, news, social media, etc. To share a playlist, tap the three dots at the top of the page to open a pop-up menu.

From there, you can select the “Share Playlist…” option. This will take you to a new page where you can share them on any number of apps, including your messages, email, and social media. You can also share it with all nearby Apple devices directly via AirDrop. In order for your friend or family member to see the playlist, they must also have an Apple Music subscription. When you do this, the playlist will be added to your library so you can view it anytime.

One of the native apps, Apple Music, was launched in 2015 and has become a popular streaming service with 30 million subscribers. You can not only share the playlists with your friends who use Apple Music and help them discover the music and artists you love. When you want to know what music your friend is listening to or want to share your playlist with your friends.

Create a profile on Apple Music

  • Open Apple Music.
  • Tap the “For You” tab.
  • Tap your profile picture in the top right corner.
  • Choose “Start sharing with friends” then “Start”.
  • Upload a profile picture, enter your name, and choose a username so other Apple Music users can find you. Press “Next” when finished.
  • Choose “Everyone” or “People of my choice” to determine who can see your listening history.
  • Choose playlists to share on your profile or “Hide all” to show none.
  • Choose contacts to share music with.
  • Toggle “Friends” and “Artists & Shows” on/off to choose the type of push notifications you want. Tap “Done”.

If you can’t find the friend you’re looking for in the Recommended Contacts section, go to the Search tab in Apple Music. With iOS 11, this area now also works as a search tool for user profiles and playlists. Start typing your name and you might see an “In People” recommendation, or just hit the Search button and you’ll see results for Songs, Albums, Playlists, Music Videos, Connect, Artists , and now shared people and playlists to continue. .

Find playlists shared by friends on Apple Music

  • Go to your Apple Music profile.
  • Scroll to ‘Next’, then tap the friend you’re looking for or tap ‘See all’ to see a vertical list.
  • Scroll through your “Playlists” and “Listen” to find a collection you want to save.
  • Tap the collection you want, then “+Add” to put it in your library.

From now on, your friends’ playlists will be prioritized alongside Apple-curated collections in the Playlists section of your library. The name of the playlist will appear with your friend’s name. Once added, it works much like Apple’s own playlists and will update in your library as your friend makes changes.

You can recover your profile at any time by tapping your profile picture under “For you” in the top right corner. This is where you can see your shared playlists, recently listened content, subscribers, and episodes. Tap the Edit button to customize things like your profile picture, name, username, and following permissions, and to rearrange shared playlists.
